In het kader van Keramiekparcours worden twee open meetings georganiseerd.
Het doel is de kunstenaar en de kunstminnaar de gelegenheid te geven inzichten te krijgen in het artistieke proces, gedachten uit te wisselen en (nieuwe) wetenschappelijke inzichten over de vervaardiging van keramiek te verwerven.

Het Keramiekparcours toont de multidimensionaliteit van keramiek: van toegepaste kunst tot zelfstandige kunst, “met gelijkaardige uitdagingen als de andere kunstuitingen”. Elke kunstenaar benadert zijn werk op een zeer eigen manier waarbij de creatieve act de materie leidt en omgekeerd.
Vier keramisten komen hun artistiek proces toelichten.

Tijdens de vier lezingen van telkens ± 45 min. vertrekken de verschillende sprekers vanuit hun ervaringen met het artistieke proces. Werk van de vier sprekers is te zien op verschillende toonpunten van het parcours.

We address several questions related to ceramic processing. We will follow the established path of artists, i.e. forming, drying and firing, and shed light on plasticity, shrinkage, transformation during firing, glazing etc.
We will demonstrate the use of analytical equipment and how to extract the practical meaning from the results. The material of this presentation will be demonstrated from a pragmatic point of view, based on actual examples. Both videos and simplified graphs will be used throughout the presentation. Eventually, artists will attain greater insight on their materials and daily practice and a more profound understanding on what is happening in the micro-world.
After a coffee break and time for questions, we will have a tour at the facilities of MTM, where the participants will have the opportunity to see and operate some of the equipment. The furnace room and the electron microscopes in action are expected to be the highlight of the day.
